MINOR SCRATCHES:

Using our white buffing pad and polish #2 (white) together removes damaged layers at a slower pace. This is compared to fine sandpaper and will not leave swirl marks. Most of the time, it is the only step required to repair a CD, making our product easy to use.

1. (A) Place the Plexiglas on top of the machine and slide it in. Once the Plexiglas is completely on the base, you need to open the lid to make sure the surrounding is secured. Make sure the four corners of the base are on a flat surface. (B) You will notice two wings nuts that need to be placed on the front and back of the Plexiglas, make sure to tighten them.

2. (C) Mount the metal plate on the arm attached to the lid and place the label side of the CD against the plate.
(C1) (If the plate base has a small pin, make sure to match the pin with the hole on the metal plate) Hold down the CD and tighten the nut.

3. (D) After the CD has been tightened, make sure there is no gap caused by debris or a misplacing of the pin. The CD should be flat across the surface of the plate.

4. (E) Place the white buffing pad flat in the pocket, with no edges coming out.

5. (F) Open polish #2 (white compound) and place the tip on the pad. With the tip remaining on the pad, squeeze some compound out of the bottle. Spread it with the tip, over the top of the pad, never lifting the bottle. If you see the compound build up, smooth it with the tip of the bottle. This will keep the compound from splashing on the frame.

6. (G) Turn the knob to the desired time, which in most cases is from 1 or 2 minutes. Close the lid and press the "push" button. Please wait until it shuts down automatically. Open the lid for the next step.

(H) WARNING: If for any reason you need to open the lid while the machine is being operated, please turn the red button to off. Otherwise the pads or your CD will get ruined. JFJ will not be responsible for any damages.

7. There are two available options for the next step.

1) (I) For faster repair, remove CD and clean all the white polish off. Make sure that all the scratches are eliminated. Shake the spray bottle and then put one or two puffs of spray and clean the CD with the cloth provided in a circular motion.

NOTE: This step will be sufficient enough for your CD, but the quality of finish won’t be as good as the second option.

2) (J) After step #5 is done (white buffing pad and compound #2), replace the white buffing pad with the second buffing pad. Apply some blue compound on the pad, without wiping off the white polish from the CD. Close the lid, and set the timer for 1 minute. When the machine stops, take the CD out and clean excess compound from both sides of the CD.

MEDIUM SCRATCHES:

1. Place the label side of the disc against plate. The soft sandpaper is made of a special cutting film which is used for normal scratches. It will be used for most of your Discs. For beginners we recommend that you sand the CD for 10-20 seconds. This is required for most common scratches. After you gain experience with the machine, repeat this step if the scratches are not completely removed.

2. (K) Peel off the backing of the soft sandpaper and (L) place it, centered, on the black foam pad. Some of the edge will hang over the side, which is normal. Shaving the edges is not necessary.

3. Place CD on arm attached to the lid and (M) close the lid.

4. (N) Set the timer for 10-20 seconds based on the condition of the CD. Press the “push” button.

NOTE: Open the lid and look at the pattern of the sandpaper. If you still see scratches, repeat the step until scratches are all gone.

5. (O) Open compound #2 and place the tip on the pad. With the tip remaining on the pad, squeeze some compound out of the bottle. Spread it with the tip over the top of the pad, never lifting the bottle. This will keep the compound from splashing on the frame. After sanding, the required time for buffing is only 1 minute. Set the timer for 1 minute, close the lid, and press the “push” button.

6. After step #5 is done (white buffing pad and compound #2), replace the white buffing pad with the second buffing pad. (P) Apply some blue compound on the pad, without wiping off the white polish from the CD. Close the lid, and set the timer for 1 minute. When the machine stops, take the CD out and clean excess compound from both sides of the CD.

DEEP SCRATCHES:

Our coarse sandpaper is used for severe scratches. If you can catch your fingernail in the scratch, then the coarse sandpaper is necessary to remove the scratch.

1. (Q) Peel the backing of the coarse sandpaper and (R) put it on the black pad, then close the lid. We recommend that you use a time range between 10-20 seconds, until you become familiar with the unit. After gaining experience you will be able to run CD’s up to 60 seconds if required. Press the start button. Timer will stop when the set time finishes. Repeat the following steps if the scratches are not completely eliminated. The sandpaper is only supplied to you for the special circumstances and will rarely be used. Since most of the discs do not have deep scratches, it is recommended to start with the soft sandpaper.

2. If the coarse sandpaper is used, you must (S) follow with soft sandpaper. If the soft sandpaper hasn’t been used too many times then run the cycle for 10 seconds. On the other hand if the sandpaper has been used a lot, you should extent the sanding for 20 seconds: otherwise some swirls will remain on the CD.

3. (T) Open compound #2 and place the tip on the white pad.

4. Replace the white buffing pad with the second buffing pad. Apply some blue compound on the pad, without wiping of the white polish from the CD.

CAUTION!: Please be aware that by using the coarse sandpaper continuously the plate behind the CD will get warm. This will not damage your CD, however for your safety please be cautious when removing the CD.
